It's another long episode this week and we're very happy to announce return guest host Holly! I think our first ever return guest? She came to drop some knowledge about pharmacist counselling for people seeking the morning after pill! This week we're serving up:
Blurst Take: Michael McCormack wants the mouse plague relocated to inner cities
SPOTW: Julie Bishop Asbestos Lawyer Barbie
First Nations: Murri Courts are extremely effective at ensuring people don't go to jail. Thanks to Peter for sending in this story!
ACAB: We're not talking about Friendlyjordies. We're not talking about Friendlyjordies. We're not talking about Friendlyjordies.
Mains: Holly's story on pharmacists and "counselling".
And you'll just have to wait to the end for our Pupdate!

Shoutouts to the Snackpack - that is, you guys, our listeners, not the new podcast called the Snackpack. This week we're serving up:
Positivity Corner: The Christian Democrats Party are in big financial trouble
First Nations: Content warning for the name of an Indigenous person who has died, it runs from 9:44 - 11:11. We have a second story in this segment with no content warnings, it's about Ben Wyatt, the former WA Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, who has taken jobs with two mining companies.
Fashy Australia: Two stories here as well - first, the Murugappan family continue to be physically and psychologically tortured for political gain. And second, Michelle Burgess, a former ALP figure, has joined the far-right, white supremacist Australia First Party. (Go check out her facebook page.)
SPOTW: Goes to Ben Jenkins with a lay-up assist from Liberal Senator Ben Small. Plus this week Gladys spawned a meme before it was hurredly murdered by other politicians.
UFU: One of Australia's loudest Nazis, Tom Sewell, is in jail again.
Mains: Is actually quite a brief story that just didn't fit into our other segments this week, about changes to the Medicare schedule.
KOOK WATCH: Is a brand new segment where we talk about conspiracy theorists! For our inaugural Kook Watch we talk about the Victorian Liberal Party and their QAnon style conspiracies about Daniel 'Adrenochrome' Andrews.
And you'll just have to listen to the end for our Pupdate!

Sunday Jun 06, 2021
Sunday Jun 06, 2021
This week on snackpod we're serving up:
Entree: Harvey Norman has a long standing tradition of being awful
Coronas: Lockdown in Victoria, a "disaster payment" and...
Positivity Corner: The Federal Government is FINALLY building a quarantine facility.
SPOTW: Shoutouts to Jimmy for some amazing content. Zac looked into Libertyworks and how pickley they really are.
UFU: Christian Porter sucks, gave up on a court case, and claims it as a win
First Nations: A report shows that the Stolen Generation involved about twice as many people as we previously thought
Blurst Take: Peter Khalil continues Labor's wonderful tradition of being absolutely useless. Just by the way, both of us were wrong: he wasn't in council and he's not in shadow cabinet.
Fashy Aus: It's unfair to say the Dobseeker Hotline is gestapo-like, because it's extremely inefficient
And you'll just have to listen to the end for our Pupdate!

Somehow we have managed to make ONE HUNDRED EPISODES. That's wild. Thank you all for coming on this journey with us! To celebrate, Zac has put together a clip show, with some of our favourite snippets from the last two years. There's some amazing interview moments, memes, tweets, hot takes, one joke that Noon didn't get, potlucks, and some timeless news items that our listeners (and us) loved.

Sunday May 23, 2021
It's another huge episode! Thank you so much to our beloved listeners who sent in excellent potlucks, and for all the memes / SPOTWOOHs <3 <3
This week we're serving up:
Entree: the Victorian budget is kind of okay, they spent money on mental health and the business lobby are very angery about it. Noon does some absolutely terrible arithmetic, you're very welcome.
Positivity Corner: Deliveroo driver found to be an employee rather than a contractor by the Fair Work Commission (but don't worry it's still bad)
First Nations: Remote Communities Forum in the Kimberley coordinated COVID responses, and they're considering forming a representative body! Read the only article about it here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-05-18/kimberley-remote-community-leaders-forum-covid/100144762
Content warning for our other First Nations story is yet another Indigenous person killed by police. If you'd prefer to skip this story it runs from 19:44 - 21:24.
Potluck: Jess makes an important correction and we give our unreservoired apologies, and Aandi gave us a very thoughtful and interesting critique of our Broken Clock segment which we chewed over.
UFU: The Morrison Government is building a very very silly gas fired power plant in the Hunter Valley, it makes no sense at all
SPOTW(OOH): Noon was interviewed by the Age! And our Facebook group made some lovely memes about him.
Main course: Zac gives an update on the Israel/Palestine situation and the relationships between Australia and the Israeli military (it's not conspiracy theories we swear).
And you'll have to listen to the end for our Pupdate!
For a surprisingly good explanation of Israel/Palestine see Juice Rap News' video from 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3by9FoEFB8

098 - Budget Beers feat. Holly
Sunday May 16, 2021
Sunday May 16, 2021
Noon has been struck down by the man flu (it's not covid, dw) so Zac recruited friend, confidant, and member of our inner sanctum Holly to chat about the news this week. Holly is, amongst other things, the co-host of Every Second Weekend, a podcast she makes with her dad where they read Agatha Christie books, and the co-host of Zac's life.
Entree: NDIS independent assessments look like they're going to go ahead unfortunately.
UFU: We talk about the federal budget, and why it's a woozle-wozzle that no one should pay attention to, and how JobMaker went (spoiler: it went badly).
SPOTW: This week it's a multi-way tie - Zac collected a few front page articles about the Budget and Holly deploys her expertise as a graphic designer to make fun of them
Potluck: Lia called in to discuss consent education resources that are actually useful, unlike the Milkshake video.
First Nations: CW for discussion of deaths in custody and using the names of Indigenous people who have passed. If you want to skip it, the story runs from 47:00-59:00. Zac gives an update on the inquiry into the death of Wayne Fellla Morrison.
Positivity Corner: a rare actually good positivity corner! Celeste Liddle is running as the Greens candidate for Cooper.
And you'll just have to listen to the end of the show for our Pupdate!

Sunday May 09, 2021
Sunday May 09, 2021
We're very excited to announce our guest host for this week, actual journalist and confirmed poster, Cam Wilson! The three of us grill up some analysis, roast some of the fools in parliament, and snack down on some tasty memes.
Entree: Tasmania had an election! Peter Gutwein is likely to form government, with the help of embattled Liberal candidate Adam "Terry" Brooks.
Fashy Aus: The government has (slightly) walked back their language around the India travel ban.
Positivity Corner: Australia is supporting a waiver on intellectual property around COVID vaccines and other medical equipment. Unfortunately it looks unlikely to come into effect any time soon.
First Nations: CW for use of names and description of Indigenous people who have died & discussion of police violence and deaths in custody. The story runs from 26:00 - 35:20 and is about the inquiry into the death of Wayne Fella Morrison.
SPOTW: Cam serves up some cricket drama, and promises an article on some major meme news. Plus we have Michael O'Brien (who?), the leader of the Victorian Liberal Party, dedicating the rest of his life to grilling.
Mains: Cam has been following George Christensen closely and dishes up hot goss and informed speculation about why George does what he does and where he's going after this term of parliament.
And you'll just have to listen to the end for our Pupdate! including Cam's little hound Rambo.

SPOTW: Craig Kelly is booted from Facebook and now is busy embarrassing himself on twitter, and we had some great OC in the group about it.
Blurst Take: Andrew Laming has been upgraded from "besieged" to "scandal-plagued", been diagnosed with ADHD, and hung up on a journalist.
First Nations: CW for the names and description of First Nations people who have died from 35:00 - 42:40. There have been developments in the case of Ms Dhu, the Wayne Fella Morrison inquiry, and there have been two more deaths in custody.
Positivity Corner: victims of the Stolen Generations in the NT are are beginning a class action for compensation, a Dan Murphy's that was planned on the border of three dry Indigenous communities has been scrapped, and Zac was inspired by some traditional fire management practitioners.
Potluck: We have a small correction about something we never meant to say, and another, much larger correction (and excellent potluck) about the legal marijuana situation in Australia, which apparently is completely not what Noon said last week!
UFU: Crown Casino has been hit with a tiny fine and a letter of censure from the Victorian gambling regulator, and is up to their eyeballs in other inquiries into their many alleged crimes.
Coronas: Zac takes us through the situation with coronavirus in India and the Australian government dealing with it in a pretty terrible / racist way.
We have a new Business sting! Please leave us a review! And rate us! Please!!!! Please we want reviews!!!!!!!! I'm literally begging you.
